Lily Sannikova holds a BA in Political Science at University of Amsterdam and is currently completing her MSc in Crisis and Security Management: Governance of Radicalism, Extremism and Terrorism at the Institute of Global Affairs, University of Leiden. At present, she is also interning at the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) as a Public Information and Communications intern. Previously, Lily has also interned at the Counter Terorrism Group where she conducted analytical reports on terrorism and various security related trends.
Her prior professional experiences include research on dynamics of sub-conventional deterrence in NATO-Russia relations at Institute of International Relations in Prague, and being deployed by the Danish Refugee Council as a Communication Officer in Ukraine. Apart from having a keen interest in the dynamics of radicalization and rehabilitation of terrorists, Lily is interested in philosophy, world religions as well as conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Although Russian-born, Lily mainly grew up in Prague and speaks Russian, Czech, English, with an intermediate French and currently learning standard Arabic.
